I'm trying to figure out if i actually need to buy a ASMB4-iKVM (is it a chip?)

The info i have found on google is very vague.

Do I need this "ASMB4-iKVM" to get IPMI to work?

• Newegg shows the model you linked to as "deactivated" (discontinued?), but a search of their site lists a few other motherboards with "ASMB4-iKVM" as part of their model number. You'll need to contact them to see if it's included.
